In a vote of confidence for the Polish economy, Standard and Poors (S&P) has upgraded it\'s country rating for Poland, noting the countrys \'strong and balanced growth prospects\'. Poland\'s growth is currently the fastest in a decade, and inflation is the lowest of any EU nation. Both the Warsaw stock exchange and the Polish zloty strengthened on the news.

Strong economic growth in 2006 (up from 3.5% in 2005 and the highest growth in 9 years) resulted from increased consumer spending and rising exports, with investment spending also a major contributor. The predicted GDP growth rate of 5.4% in 2007 is to be driven by domestic demand.
