Investment attractiveness of Polish Regions, report December 2007

In it's annual report titled 'The Attractiveness for investment of the voivodeships and sub-regions of Poland', the Gdansk Institute for Market Economics has once again placed the region of Slask (largest city, Katowice) in first place, with Malopolska (Krakow) in fourth place. The report is based on an assessment of the regions in terms of their attractiveness for investments by business enterprises in the industrial, service and advanced technology sectors.

Polish residential market prices - the situation in May

According to the monthly report from the consultancy Rednet, the average price in Krakow at the end of May stood at 7993 PLN per m2, an increase of 7.8% over the price in April, and the first significant rise in prices in Krakow since prices stabilised at the start of 2007.

Disposable income for Poles grew by 8.5% in 2006

According to data collected by the Polish government\'s statistics office, the nominal monthly disposable income for Polish households rose by 8.5% year on year in 2006 to PLN 835 per capita
Average monthly household spending, in turn, amounted to PLN 745 per head, up some 6.8% y/y in real terms.
The structure of household spending shows an increase of expenditure on energy, textiles and footwear, recreation and culture and a decrease of expenses on food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Rents on the rise in Poland

According to the website szybko.pl, rents for small apartments are rising in the major Polish cities. More than 1000 PLN per month is now the norm for a one-room (studio) apartment in Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw. The rapidly rising purchase prices for real estate in Poland is pricing many Poles out of the market and contributing to a higher number of prospective tenants, hence higher rental prices.
